In 2025, artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform management companies. After the experiment, it is now time for action. The gains and costs associated with the adoption of AI are numerous, with significant impacts on the efficiency of internal processes and risk management. One of the main transformations concerns the massive creation of AI agents and, as a result, the transformation of processes in the various support functions. Multiple strategies are emerging with the same objective: better operational efficiency.

AI also offers opportunities in the distribution of funds, by potentially allowing management companies to pool their costs and optimize proximity to the end customer. By improving the understanding of the needs of investors, it could also play a key role in the evolution of financial advisors.

However, the increasing use of AI raises challenges in terms of cybersecurity. The question is whether AI can reduce attacks and, at the same time, create new forms of fraud, but also what internal policies should be established to regulate its use, in particular via tools like ChatGPT.

Data sovereignty and AI-based tools are another major challenge. It is imperative to put in place solid governance mechanisms to ensure the ethical and secure use of AI.

When it comes to active fund management, a fundamental question arises: can AI generate alpha and outperform human asset managers in certain contexts? This is yet to be demonstrated, but AI could play a key role in active management if used in the right conditions.

Finally, the HR challenges associated with the deployment of AI in management companies are numerous. Training teams in new tools and acquiring specialized talent are essential for a successful technological transition.
