“Jean-Michel Beacco passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in a mountain accident. This sudden loss has deeply shaken his family, his friends, and all those who worked alongside him within the Institut Louis Bachelier group.
Personally, I have lost a warm friend and a precious source of intellectual and human support. Jean-Michel took over the leadership of the Institut Louis Bachelier in 2009, shortly after its founding, and over the past sixteen years he led its development to an exceptional level in every respect: activities, visibility, and research fields. His energy and talent enabled him to recruit, train, and bring together a remarkable team, whose commitment made this growth possible.
He also built around us a strong network of academic, professional, and public partners, a network that has become a key asset for our group. But above all, his energy and his ability to analyze situations and make decisions quickly were matched by an exceptional simplicity, warmth, and common sense.
Jean-Michel leaves a profound legacy, and his memory continues to inspire each of us. The teams he put in place at the Institut Louis Bachelier enable us to ensure the continuity of projects, work, and research.”
