The Institut Louis Bachelier (ILB) is a non-profit association governed by the French 1901 law, founded in 2008.
Our activities aim to engage academics, businesses, and public authorities in research programs, as well as in scientific events and other forums for dialogue and exchange.Research is conducted with the objective of publishing in leading academic journals. It is carried out within our public-interest foundations, following an open model designed to create a shared body of knowledge developed in France.
Together, let us find solutions for a world in transition.

The Louis Bachelier Network currently hosts more than 60 research programs.

They may take the following forms:
A research chair
It is a multi-year research project, generally spanning five years, led by one or two academic directors. This type of program benefits from substantial support from both industry and the universities to which the researchers are affiliated. It focuses on cutting-edge research, with work intended for publication in leading scientific journals.A research chair helps strengthen research teams, maintain the attractiveness of French universities, and foster the emergence of new talent.
A Research Initiative (IdR)
A Research Initiative (IdR) is a chair whose research activities typically span approximately one year. It is a sponsored research project, structured around a dedicated team, a defined timeframe, and a more limited budget. Most Research Initiatives operate independently from research chairs. However, some stem from existing chairs, with a smaller team focusing on a more specific research topic.
Applied Research
It is a highly targeted, short-term project in which scientific methods are tested on data or problems directly within an industrial environment.
