The research objective of the Demographic Transitions, Economic Transitions Chair is to examine the opportunities presented by the aging of the population for our modern societies — a major challenge of the 21st century for our developed economies, in order to make recommendations and propose innovative solutions to structure and propose innovative solutions to structure and guide the public debate towards an awareness of the potentialities of this phenomenon. The latter is all too often perceived as an economic burden, while its effects on growth factors such as health, education, productivity and savings are controversial.
