This project was born from the following observation: commercial real estate is an important specific asset class for investors (institutions, unlisted investment funds, listed real estate companies, developers, etc.), but scientific research on this theme is still poorly developed, especially in France.

Commercial Real Estate Research Network

The Louis Bachelier Institute, with the participation of the Directorate General of the Treasury, is launching an excellent academic research network dedicated to commercial real estate.

This research network aims to promote and enrich scientific research at the French and European level on commercial real estate, i.e. real estate owned on behalf of third parties, in particular offices.

The commercial real estate research network, supported by the French Association of Real Estate Investment Companies (ASPIM), the company Iread (real estate research studies analyses data) and the Institut de l'Epargne Immobilière et Foncière (IEIF) will work in partnership with the provider of stock market and real estate indices (IEIF), will work in partnership with the provider of stock market and real estate indices MSCI. One of its objectives is to establish a better dialogue between public authorities, the real estate industry and scientific research.

Adapting governance

These two years of existence have seen the network expand and the number of projects multiply. It has now become essential that its governance also adapt, with working in pairs.

Indeed, Kevin BEAUBRUN-DIANT, Scientific Director of ReFine and Senior Lecturer, University Paris-Dauphine PSL supported by a steering committee (composed of a representative of each of the founding members), is both the project leader and his academic “voice”. In view of the new directions that the ILB wants for ReFine, namely to get closer to real estate professionals, to open up to European networks... it is important that a person with a different and complementary profile, come and enrich the network alongside the scientific director.

It is Béatrice GUEDJ, Head of Research & Innovation, Swiss Life Asset Manager, who, alongside Kévin, will have the difficult but no less exciting task of mobilizing the real estate industry around the work and new challenges of ReFine.

- Provision of data for the benefit of network researchers

- Publications in international scientific journals

- Creation of bridges between researchers and real estate professionals

- Organization of events (workshops, conferences, symposiums...)

- Dissemination of work beyond the academic sphere through the popularization of academic work
