The Louis Bachelier Institute is proud to have been partner ofthe MATS Summer School on Agricultural Finance, a major scientific event dedicated to the economic and financial challenges of agricultural transitions.
Organized for doctoral students and young researchers, this summer school aimed to develop scientific skills around two main objectives:
- Raise awareness of the challenges of agricultural transitions
- Train in advanced quantitative methods adapted to the analysis of these issues
A demanding program, supported by recognized experts
The participants benefitted from four high level courses :
- Farmers and Risk Management — Bertrand Villeneuve (Paris Dauphine University — PSL)
- A Course on Machine Learning and Big Data to Identify Market Expectations and Surprises — Ann N. Q. Cao (University of Bonn) & Michel Robe (University of Richmond)
- Multi-scale Modelling of Precipitations — Marc Hoffmann (Paris Dauphine University — PSL) & Thomas Deschatre (EDF R&D)
- Network Analysis and Systemic Risk in Agricultural Markets — Delphine Lautier (Paris Dauphine University — PSL), Julien Ling (Collège de France) & Franck Raynaud (University of Geneva)
The program also included supervised practical sessions, presentations of work (invited and contributing), a poster session, as well as exchange times conducive to the development of participants' research projects.
