The Insititut Louis Bachelier announces the appointment of Marie Brière to the position of Director General, beginning in January 2026. She succeeds Jean-Michel Beacco and will take the helm of the Institute with the ambition of strengthening its role as a reference on major contemporary economic and financial issues.
A recognized economist who has long been involved in the dialogue between academic research and public and private decision-makers, Marie Brière embodies a demanding and open vision of research in the service of the general interest.
An economist by training (ENSAE and PhD), Marie Brière has solid experience at the interface between academic research, financial innovation and collective action. She is currently responsible for investor research and academic partnerships at the Amundi Investment Institute, where she conducts research on long-term investment, sustainable finance, household savings and the impact of new technologies on finance.
Marie Brière will maintain her position at the Amundi Investment Institute and will exercise her new responsibilities at the Louis Bachelier Institute in parallel.
Marie Brière's career is closely linked to that of the Louis Bachelier Institute. In 2010, she joined and then chaired the scientific council of the Financial Risks International Forum, actively contributing to the structure of exchanges between high-level researchers, public institutions and economic actors around the challenges of financial risks, sustainable finance and new technologies.
Since 2022, she has also directed the FaIR program, dedicated to digitalization and artificial intelligence in finance. At the same time, she is involved in several academic bodies and groups of European experts, in particular with the ACPR, CEPS, ESMA, Inquire Europe or even the OEE.
As Director General, Marie Brière will be responsible for steering the Institute's strategy, supporting the development and visibility of its scientific programs, and strengthening its academic, institutional and industrial partnerships, in France and internationally.
“I am very honored to take over the management of the Louis Bachelier Institute. I look forward to working with our teams, researchers and partners to pursue excellent scientific work in the service of the general interest,” says Marie Brière.
This appointment marks a new stage in the development of the Louis Bachelier Institute, which confirms its ambition to actively contribute to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the service of major economic, financial and societal challenges.
