Paris, March 18, 2025 — TheEuroplace Institute of Finance (IEF), within the Louis Bachelier Network, awarded the Prize for the best young researcher in finance and insurance unto Olivier Darmouni (Columbia Business School), on the occasion of the Financial Risks International Forum (Risks Forum). This award, sponsored by the SCOR Foundation for Science, recognizes excellent research in finance and insurance.

A specialist in corporate finance, financial institutions and macro-finance, Olivier Darmouni studies financial frictions, credit markets and the real effects of unconventional monetary policies. His recent research also sheds light on the financing of the energy transition (disengagement from coal, specific features of financing renewable energies).

The award was presented at the Risks Forum by Marie Brière, president of the forum's scientific committee, and Philippe Trainar, director of the SCOR Foundation for Science.

An award that celebrates scientific excellence

Created in 2005, the IEF Prize honors researchers under the age of 40 whose contributions advance the understanding of risk, corporate finance, and insurance. Since 2016, it has been sponsored by the SCOR Foundation for Science and, since 2017, it has explicitly distinguished work at the interface of finance and insurance. Nominations are proposed by the scientific councils of the Louis Bachelier Institute and the IEF, then the laureate is elected by the Louis Bachelier Academic Fellows.

Congratulations to Olivier Darmouni for this well-deserved recognition, which recognizes high-impact work for the understanding of credit, financial stability and public policies.
