On the occasion of the Risks Forum 2026, organised by the Institut Louis Bachelier, the Institut Europlace de Finance and the Fondation du Risque, the Fondation SCOR pour la Science and the Institut Europlace de Finance awarded the 2026 Prize for Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance to Roxana Dumitrescu and Sylvain Carré. A special mention was also awarded to Paul Voss.
This distinction highlights research work that contributes to a better understanding of markets, economic mechanisms and contemporary governance challenges.
A professor at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Roxana Dumitrescu conducts research in applied mathematics, focusing on mean field game theory. Her work notably addresses the electricity market and issues related to the energy transition. She studies how individual behaviours can be coordinated through incentive mechanisms and price signals in order to collectively improve the efficiency of the power system in a context marked by the rise of renewable energy sources.
A professor at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Sylvain Carré uses economic modelling to analyse concrete issues related to the banking sector and decentralised finance. His research has notably focused on the transparency of bank stress tests following the 2007–2009 financial crisis, as well as the effectiveness of sanctions against insider trading. More recently, he has been working on lending mechanisms in blockchain and decentralised finance, with the aim of reducing borrowing costs and improving the efficiency of financial protocols.
A special mention was awarded to Paul Voss, Associate Professor at HEC Paris, for his research on corporate governance. His work examines shareholder voting mechanisms, the role of proxy advisors, and the effects of heterogeneity in investor preferences on corporate decision-making.
The prize was presented by Elyès Jouini, Academic Vice-President of the Institut Louis Bachelier, and Philippe Trainar, Director of the Fondation SCOR pour la Science.
